Level Infinite, Tencent’s global publishing label, has reached a worldwide publishing agreement with South Korean studio SHIFT UP for its upcoming title Project Spirits. The announcement confirms that the game is being developed for PC, consoles, and mobile platforms and will be built on Unreal Engine 5.
Project Spirits is being produced through a co-development arrangement between SHIFT UP and Tencent affiliate Yongxing Interactive. According to Level Infinite, Yongxing Interactive’s development team includes senior staff with experience in anime-inspired game production, though the company has not disclosed specific projects or personnel involved. No release window, gameplay details, or genre classification were provided in the announcement.
The partnership marks the second major collaboration between Level Infinite and SHIFT UP. The two companies previously worked together on Goddess of Victory Nikke, a mobile title that achieved significant international commercial success. Level Infinite stated that both parties intend to build on that prior cooperation and pursue closer joint development for the new project. SHIFT UP’s recent high-profile releases, including Stellar Blade, were cited by Level Infinite as examples of the studio’s global reach and production capabilities.
Executives characterized the agreement as a step toward strengthening the long-term strategic relationship between the two companies. Beyond confirming that Level Infinite will handle global publishing duties, the announcement did not specify which regions will be self-published or whether any content will be localized in partnership with regional distributors.
Several key points remain unresolved regarding Project Spirits. The technical requirements, target platforms, and monetization plans are still undisclosed, and it’s unclear whether the project will follow a live service model or a premium release structure. No timeline for development or testing phases has been provided.
Level Infinite and SHIFT UP will share more details as the project progresses.
