A sequel to Square Enix and Deck Nine Games’ episodic adventure game, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, is currently in development, according to a new report.
Deck Nine Games’ Principal Animator David Blanchette and Cinematic Designer Kyle Norlander have both mentioned working on an unannounced project on their respective LinkedIn profiles. According to Blanchette’s resume, the game is set to be published this year in 2025. When these details were brought to light on Reddit, a former Deck Nine Games developer who goes by the handle LadyDevHeart claimed that project is in fact a sequel to Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

According to LadyDevHeart, Life is Strange: Double Exposure 2 is more likely to be released in 2026 rather than arriving during the 2025 launch window mentioned in Blanchette’s resume. They mentioned that the sequel was part of publisher Square Enix’s contract with Deck Nine for Double Exposure. As such, the second game was planned from the very beginning.
The the former Deck Nine Games developer also stated that the studio management laid off every department one at a time after it finish it previous project, including Animation, Design, QA, and Engineering. They mentioned the names of studio heads Mark Lyons, Jeff Litchford, and Stephen Frost, saying that they were not able to secure additional projects, so they opted to “tear out” the entire development team in the hopes of finding a way to survive.
Back in October, 2024, LadyDevHeart had provided verification for her credentials on Reddit and shared their behind-the-scenes experience on the troubled development of Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Their information was also partially corroborated by another former Deck Nine developer in the same thread.
For the uninitiated, Life is Strange: Double Exposure is the fourth main installment of the Life Is Strange series, and a direct sequel to 2015’s Life Is Strange. The game is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
