Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Leaked via PlayStation Store, Features Ray Tracing and Dual Visual Modes

It appears that Bandai Namco is preparing to reintroduce Little Nightmares with a technically upgraded release. The existence of Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition has been leaked through a PlayStation Store listing, indicating that the game will receive a range of graphical improvements and new performance options. This re-release comes after earlier reports, including one from our coverage, noted that the enhanced version had been rated long ago, suggesting that development has been ongoing for some time.

According to the official PlayStation Store description, Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition will support both Quality and Performance modes, allowing players to prioritize either visual fidelity or smoother frame rates depending on their preference. The game will now run at a resolution of up to 4K and target 60 frames per second, a significant upgrade over the original. In addition to this, the new version introduces ray-traced reflections, improved water rendering, increased particle effects, and enhanced volumetric lighting. These visual upgrades suggest a major overhaul of the original engine to support modern rendering techniques on current-gen hardware.

The listing also mentions new optional gameplay assists—dubbed “additional helpers”—aimed at easing players into the game’s notoriously steep learning curve. These quality-of-life improvements preserve the original challenge for purists while offering a more approachable experience for newcomers. The core combat and story remain intact, with the upgrades focused solely on refining immersion and accessibility.

Since its 2017 debut, Little Nightmares has earned a devoted following for its haunting atmosphere, distinctive art style, and enigmatic storytelling. Players guide Six, a vulnerable child navigating the grotesque horrors of The Maw, relying on stealth, puzzle-solving, and split-second escapes to survive. The Enhanced Edition preserves this tense, minimalist gameplay while overhauling its technical presentation for modern platforms.

A key caveat: save files from the original game won’t carry over, likely due to underlying engine or architectural changes. However, leaks suggest current owners on PC and consoles may receive the upgrade for free, with PlayStation users needing to download a dedicated PS5 version for the enhancements.

Though Bandai Namco hasn’t officially confirmed details, the edition’s appearance on Steam hints at an imminent multi-platform release. If the upgrade proves free, it could offer fans a compelling reason to revisit the game’s chilling world with sharper visuals and smoother performance, just as anticipation builds for the third game.
