Dragami Games has officially announced a significant new phase for the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise, entering into a partnership with Taiwan-based NADA HOLDINGS to launch a series of projects aimed at expanding the property’s presence in the gaming and entertainment industry.

The Tokyo-based developer, led by President Shohei Sato, revealed that this new intellectual property expansion would see Lollipop Chainsaw revived through a range of new ventures. The move comes after the successful 2024 release of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, a remastered edition that attracted renewed attention and further cemented the cult following of the original 2012 title.

With total sales exceeding 1.5 million units and a loyal fanbase that has continued to support the franchise over the past thirteen years, Dragami Games now seeks to broaden the series’ horizons. This expansion will include not only new game projects but also potential cross-media collaborations, building upon the unique blend of stylized action and irreverent humor that defined the original game.

The newly announced partnership with NADA HOLDINGS, a company known for its expertise in investment and intellectual property development, signals Dragami’s commitment to elevating Lollipop Chainsaw beyond its established legacy. NADA’s involvement is set to bring a strategic edge, especially in the cross-media space, where the firm has cultivated experience in animation and gaming-related projects.

Commenting on the announcement, Dragami Games President Shohei Sato expressed deep gratitude for the continued support from fans and acknowledged the passion of the original development team. “Thirteen years ago, the original development team poured tremendous passion and creativity into Lollipop Chainsaw. The enduring support and affection we have received from fans over the years have moved us deeply. We are sincerely grateful and have decided to take a significant step forward by initiating the expansion of the IP under the Dragami Games banner,” said Sato. He also noted that NADA HOLDINGS’ shared enthusiasm and expertise made them the ideal partner for this venture.

Joe Teng, Chairman of NADA HOLDINGS, echoed these sentiments, stating, “As a devoted fan of Lollipop Chainsaw, I am honored and thrilled to be involved in the expansion of its IP. NADA HOLDINGS is committed to respecting the essence of the original game while working tirelessly to meet the expectations of its fanbase. Together with Dragami Games, we intend to develop a variety of new projects that celebrate and build upon the legacy of this beloved title.”

The original Lollipop Chainsaw, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and released in 2012, became known for its distinctive combination of high-energy zombie action, dark humor, and unconventional narrative. Centered on Juliet, a cheerleader armed with a chainsaw battling zombies to save her high school and boyfriend, the game’s bold style and over-the-top gameplay earned it a cult following.

Now, with both Dragami Games and NADA HOLDINGS working closely together, new projects are already in the planning stages, with teams being assembled to ensure that the upcoming works remain faithful to the franchise’s original spirit while exploring new creative directions.

This announcement marks a new chapter for Lollipop Chainsaw, with both companies emphasizing their commitment to expanding the IP’s diversity and potential. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates as Dragami and NADA prepare to reveal more details about these upcoming projects.
