The developers of Lost Soul Aside have publicly acknowledged ongoing performance problems affecting the newly released action role-playing game on both PlayStation 5 and PC. In a statement shared on X, Ultizero Games addressed specific concerns raised by players regarding cutscene performance and promised forthcoming updates to improve the experience.
“Currently, some of these cutscenes are pre-rendered 4K/30fps videos, which may cause occasional stuttering during playback. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding,” the studio explained. The team further assured that optimizations are in progress and that future updates will aim to deliver a smoother experience across platforms.
Since its launch on August 29, 2025, Lost Soul Aside has struggled to maintain a positive reception, with the game currently holding a mixed rating on Steam. Much of the criticism stems from technical instability, even on high-end hardware. Players frequently report inconsistent frame rates, stuttering, and frame drops. Ray tracing, in particular, has been flagged as a key culprit, with some recommending it be turned off entirely to avoid severe performance degradation.
Beyond technical hurdles, players have also raised concerns about the design and presentation of the game. Traversal has drawn significant criticism, with the main character’s movement described as awkward and disorienting, while the tightly zoomed camera has left some feeling uncomfortable during exploration. Environmental freedom is also limited, with invisible walls restricting navigation and diminishing immersion.
Despite these issues, Lost Soul Aside represents a major milestone for Ultizero Games as part of Sony’s China Hero Project, which supports Chinese developers in bringing their projects to a global audience. The game follows protagonist Kaser in his quest to rescue his sister Louisa and save humanity from interdimensional invaders known as the Voidrax.
With developer assurances of ongoing improvements, fans remain hopeful that future patches will address the current shortcomings. Whether Lost Soul Aside can overcome its rocky launch to achieve lasting success will likely depend on how quickly and effectively Ultizero Games can deliver on its promises.
