The developers of Lost Soul Aside, Ultizero Games, have promised fans that more updates are coming to fix the game after a difficult launch. In a message on X, the studio acknowledged the issues and said that they are working on improvements.
“We’re listening and working on improved combat sound, better gamepad support, and smoother early-game progression,” the studio wrote. “Updates coming soon, with more optimizations planned. We’re in this adventure together!”
This message came after the team had already apologized for problems with the game’s cutscenes. They explained that some of the cutscenes are pre-rendered 4K videos that run at 30 frames per second, which can cause them to stutter. They promised to fix this for a better gameplay experience.
Since its release on August 29, Lost Soul Aside has faced a lot of technical complaints from players on both PlayStation 5 and PC. On Steam, the game has “Mixed” reviews, with many people complaining about unstable frame rates and stuttering. The ray tracing feature, in particular, has been a major source of problems, with many players recommending that it be turned off completely.
Besides the technical issues, some of the game’s design choices have also been criticized. Players have mentioned awkward movement, a strange camera, and invisible walls that make it hard to explore. These problems have unfortunately overshadowed the game’s cool cinematic combat and ambitious style, which were highlighted in the years leading up to its release.
Despite these issues, Lost Soul Aside is still a big accomplishment for Ultizero Games. It’s part of Sony’s China Hero Project, which aims to help Chinese developers get more attention on the global stage. The game follows the main character, Kaser, as he tries to save his sister and humanity from an invading force called the Voidrax.
With the developers’ promise to keep working on the game, fans will be watching to see if future updates can fix the performance issues and help Lost Soul Aside live up to its full potential.
