Early copies of Lost Soul Aside have surfaced ahead of its official launch later this month, with one Reddit user offering an unfiltered look at how the game runs on a base PlayStation 5. The player, posting under the name Liamkun11, shared both written impressions and short video clips, sparking fresh discussion around the technical state of the highly anticipated action RPG.
According to the user, the game struggles significantly in graphics mode prior to the day-one patch. They noted heavy frame drops, describing the experience as “probably not even 20 fps” during the opening battle. While combat in performance mode was described as fluid, the visual trade-offs left some noticeable issues. Face textures were reportedly underwhelming, and body physics during cutscenes did not hold up to current standards.
“First scene is weird as f*ck like out of some weird Korean MMO,” Liamkun11 wrote, reflecting on their early impressions. They further added that the camera system felt unusual, moving with the protagonist in a way that disrupted natural pacing. The user did, however, note that increasing the base camera movement speed improved the overall feel.
These early observations have added to concerns about the game’s rollout. There has been no confirmed review embargo, yet previews and marketing have been unusually quiet for a title published under Sony’s banner. This has left some potential players wary of the final product, especially given its long development history. The game comes under PlayStation’s China Hero Project, an initiative created to promote Chinese developers on the global stage.
Developed by Ultizero Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Lost Soul Aside places players in the role of Kaser, a warrior who must rescue his sister Louisa while fending off interdimensional invaders known as the Voidrax. The game blends fast-paced combat with role-playing elements.
Despite the technical criticisms raised by this early leak, the game’s combat in performance mode was described as “really good,” suggesting that its gameplay foundation may still hold promise once the official release arrives. Lost Soul Aside is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 29, 2025.
