Mafia: The Old Country FAQ Highlights Accessibility, Difficulty, and Key Features

by Ali Haider

With the launch of Mafia: The Old Country just around the corner, the development team has shared an extensive FAQ addressing major aspects of the game. This includes details on accessibility settings, difficulty levels, exploration options, and much more. The game releases on August 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The FAQ confirms a robust selection of accessibility options, such as subtitle customization, colorblind modes, HUD scaling, and remappable keyboard controls for PC. Players will also find toggles for features like sprinting, camera shake, and manual driving, along with customizable aim assist. These adjustments aim to make the game approachable for a wide range of players.

Difficulty settings are divided into Easy, Medium, and Hard modes. Easy offers higher weapon damage and forgiving enemy accuracy, while Hard reduces player damage and introduces more punishing enemy behavior. Medium serves as the balanced option for those seeking a standard experience.

Offline play is available on consoles without restriction, whereas PC users will need an internet connection for the initial launch and after major hardware changes or updates. Exploration is possible through an optional Explore mode that unlocks after the prologue, allowing players to collect items, purchase gear, and ride vehicles or horses.

Collectibles will feature prominently, including notes, newspapers, Saints’ Cards, and other unique items that provide lore or gameplay perks. While a dedicated photo mode will not be present at launch, certain story-driven moments will allow Enzo to take photographs.

Combat and equipment systems also receive attention, particularly the use of knives. Players can choose between three knife classes: Scannaturi, Rasolu, and Stiletto, each with unique attributes. Knives degrade with use, but can be repaired using whetstones found in the world. DLC knives with advanced perks become available after Chapter 2.

For players interested in customization, both vehicles and horses will feature varying stats and upgrade options. Cars can be acquired through story progression or purchased with in-game currency called Dinari, which is earned strictly through gameplay. No microtransactions are included. Horses also have unique endurance stats and customizable tack.

Finally, next-generation console users will have access to Quality and Performance modes, offering a choice between higher resolution visuals or smoother frame rates.

Mafia: The Old Country promises an immersive, narrative-driven experience with layers of customization and gameplay depth. Fans eager to dive into this crime drama can still pre-order ahead of its launch next week.
