Carina Conti, the voice actor behind Isabella Torrisi in 2K and Hangar 13’s action-adventure game, Mafia: The Old Country, has confirmed that a new entry in the series has been greenlit by Take-Two.
According to the Mafia: The Old Country voice and motion capture actor, a new entry in the franchise is officially in development. During a livestream with content creator Bubbly Nuggets (via Mafia Game Videos), Conti was asked whether 2K or Hangar 13 had announced a follow-up to the latest title. In her response, she said, “They were approved for another Mafia game. This is true.”

Conti’s statement is the first real confirmation that Hangar 13’s next project is indeed a continuation of the Mafia series. Rumors and speculation had pointed towards the next installment being a direct sequel to Mafia: The Old Country. It would potentially be set in Empire Bay during the 1920s or 1930s, essentially serving as a prequel to Mafia 2. Whether the upcoming title ends up being a direct sequel, a full Mafia 2 remake, or something entirely new is anyone’s guess at this point. Going by development timelines for Mafia: The Old Country, the next entry will likely see the light of day sometime in 2028.
Hangar 13 will likely stick to Unreal Engine for future projects rather than reverting back to its proprietary Fusion engine . This move to Unreal Engine should allow the studio to streamline development, make onboarding easier for new hires, and take advantage of modern features.
The latest entry in the Mafia series, Mafia: The Old Country, is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. It has sold over 1.2 million copies to date. It serves as a prequel, set several decades prior to the original game’s events. The story unfolds in early 1900s Sicily, Italy, focusing on Enzo Favara, a young carusu who becomes entangled in the rise and eventual downfall of the fictional Torrisi crime family.
