Bungie has released Marathon Update 1.0.0.4, introducing gameplay adjustments, bug fixes, and balance changes across several core systems. The patch focuses on combat tuning, item economy adjustments, and improvements to the Runner Rook, while also addressing stability issues and mission progression bugs.
The update also introduces new contracts and tweaks enemy balance, particularly for UESC combatants. Several weapon adjustments have been made as well, including reduced effectiveness for thermal scopes to balance long-range engagements.

Item Economy
- Increased the number of Med Cabinets and Munitions Crates that can spawn on the Perimeter map
- Increased starting ammunition for free Sponsored Kits from MIDA, CyberAcme, and Arachne
- Reduced the frequency of EMP grenade drops from UESC Grenadiers
Combat
- Fixed an issue where players could sometimes die instantly during confinement events
- Fixed an issue where shield break visual effects could repeatedly trigger when heal over time and damage over time effects occurred simultaneously
- Increased the distance from which gunfire and explosions can be heard
Weapons
Thermal Scopes
- Reduced visual clarity of targets when using thermal scopes
- Reduced maximum thermal highlight distances
- Pistols: 40 meters, previously 55 meters
- Rifles, LMGs, and SMGs: 60 meters, previously 65 meters
- Precision Rifles: 80 meters, previously 100 meters
- Snipers: 100 meters, previously 180 meters
Overrun
- Increased default ammunition capacity by 5 rounds
Runners
Rook
- Fixed an issue where backpacks could be deleted when extracting with Rook
- Fixed an issue where Rook’s position was not visible on the map screen
- Increased CyberAcme reputation gained from extracting with Rook
- Rook now grants the same faction reputation bonus when extracting as solo players receive
- Rook’s WSTR shotgun now spawns as a Compromised item
- Compromised items require a Matter Fixative to extract successfully during a run
UESC Enemies
- Reduced health of most UESC enemies
- Reduced shield health of UESC bosses slightly
Contracts
- Increased objective navigation marker distance from 10 meters to 20 meters
- Added NuCaloric contract
- Fixed an issue where enemy crews could hear NuCal contract voice lines and subtitles from long distances
- Added Traxus contract
- Reduced difficulty of the UESC Commander encounter
Zones
Outpost
- Temporarily disabled the switches route leading to the Broken Wing entrance of the Pinwheel area
- Developers noted this route will return after further balance adjustments
Rewards Pass and Store
- Fixed Silk balances not updating correctly without restarting the game
- Fixed bundle prices displaying incorrect values
- Fixed cosmetic items incorrectly showing savings when sold at full price
- Increased the LUX bundle contents from 1000 plus 100 to 1000 plus 120
Stability
- Fixed a rare issue that could cause dedicated server crashes
- Fixed several client crash issues
General Fixes
- Fixed doors locking players out of the new player introduction mission
- Updated the description of the Perimeter Beginner zone on the zone selection screen
- Fixed a bug causing the text chat window to remain stuck open
- Fixed crashes occurring when using IME keyboards in certain situations
- Reduced extended black screens during the map loading sequence
Marathon launched on March 5, 2026. Developed by Bungie, the extraction shooter is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam with full cross-play and cross-save support.
