Mario Kart Tour Sunshine Tour Now Live: How to Get All New Characters and Vehicles

by Ali Haider

Nintendo has officially launched the latest content update for Mario Kart Tour, marking what appears to be the final addition of new drivers and karts to the mobile racing game. Titled the Sunshine Tour, this event includes the debut of a Mario Kart World-themed event and introduces several limited-time unlocks.

The headline additions for this tour are two new characters: Mario (Mechanic) and Luigi (Mechanic). Players can unlock Mario (Mechanic) by clearing the Event Challenge card, while Luigi (Mechanic) is available for purchase through the in-game Spotlight Shop. Alongside these drivers, four distinct kart variants have also been introduced: Tiny Titan, Cool Tiny Titan, Desert Tiny Titan, and Rainbow Tiny Titan. These can be obtained through various means, such as the Spotlight Shop, Tour Gifts, and Token Shop, with Desert Tiny Titan reserved for Gold Pass subscribers.

Nintendo also issued a notable statement with this update, confirming that there are no plans to add further new drivers or karts to the game after this tour. This clarification suggests that the Sunshine Tour serves as a concluding content chapter for Mario Kart Tour, which has been supported through biweekly events since its release in 2019.

The event also brings back the fan-favorite GCN Daisy Cruiser course and continues the trend of location-based tracks that Mario Kart Tour is known for. As with previous tours, players can expect themed challenges, collectibles, and time-limited items that encourage engagement throughout the event’s duration.

Originally launched in September 2019 for iOS and Android, Mario Kart Tour brought the beloved kart racing series to mobile platforms, featuring simplified touch controls, familiar characters, and reimagined tracks from across the franchise. Its ongoing support through themed tours and limited-time content has kept the player base engaged for nearly six years.

With Nintendo now signaling the end of new content additions, the future of Mario Kart Tour may shift toward seasonal reruns and maintenance updates rather than continued expansion. For long-time fans, this Sunshine Tour may represent the final opportunity to collect new in-game characters and vehicles before the game enters a more static phase.
