Mario Kart World Update 1.6.1 Fixes Multiplayer and Rail Ride Issues

by Ali Haider

Mario Kart World update 1.6.1 delivers a small but targeted set of fixes aimed at improving gameplay consistency. The update addresses an issue where players would occasionally miss out on a speed boost after landing during certain rail ride sequences, which could disrupt race flow.

In addition, a more disruptive multiplayer issue has been resolved, where the game could unexpectedly end when switching between play modes with three or more players. While limited in scope, these fixes should make races feel more stable overall.

Patch Notes

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes not receive a speed boost upon landing after initiating a rail ride following a Jump Boost or similar action
  • Fixed an issue where the game could sometimes end when switching between TV mode and handheld or tabletop mode after starting a multiplayer session with three or more players

Mario Kart World is developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo. It was released on June 5, 2025, as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 and is available exclusively on that platform.
