Skydance Games has announced that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the studio’s upcoming story-driven action-adventure title, has been delayed indefinitely beyond its previously planned early 2026 release window. The decision was confirmed in an official statement issued by the developer, emphasizing the team’s commitment to quality and creative ambition.
In its statement, Skydance explained that the delay was necessary “to fully realize our vision” for the project, describing Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra as an “ambitious” undertaking. The studio added that it aims to deliver a “premium” experience that lives up to player expectations and honors the characters and worlds from Marvel’s universe. “We’re grateful for the passion and support from the community and players around the world,” the statement read. “The team is working hard to create something truly special, and we look forward to sharing more as development progresses.”
The game, developed by Skydance New Media under the leadership of veteran creative director Amy Hennig, is set during World War II and features a narrative that spans Nazi-occupied Paris and Wakanda. Players will take control of four protagonists — a young Captain America (Steve Rogers), the 1940s Black Panther (Azzuri), Howling Commando Gabriel Jones, and Wakandan spy Nanali — as they confront the rising threat of Hydra. The dual setting aims to intertwine the stories of the Allied and Wakandan fronts during the global conflict, offering both cinematic storytelling and action-oriented gameplay.
Initially unveiled in 2022, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was one of the first major projects from Skydance’s newly established game development division. The title quickly drew attention for its narrative ambitions and its collaboration with Marvel Games, which had previously partnered with several major studios on standalone superhero titles. The delay marks the second adjustment to the game’s release timeline, with no revised launch date currently provided.
The studio has confirmed that the game remains in active development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Further updates regarding its progress and future release schedule are expected in 2026.
