Arkane Lyon has offered a rare update on the development of Marvel Blade, responding to growing fan curiosity after a long period of silence. The update came directly from co-creative director Dinga Bakaba, who addressed concerns during a brief exchange on X, reassuring players that work on the project remains active and ambitious.
The exchange began when a fan account, TheArkaneRealm, publicly expressed frustration over the lack of visible progress on the game. The user wrote, “My Christmas wish this year is to get SOMETHING about Blade from the ArkaneStudios team in Lyon. PLEASE throw us a bone! Confirmation of some kind of gameplay showcase next year, new concept art, even a tiny message about the progress on the game would go a long way.”
Bakaba responded directly, offering a concise but supportive message aimed at calming expectations. He stated, “The team is hard at work, everyone is super proud and out doing themselves. Please be patient, it will be a special game and we all hope it will be meeting the high standards that we set for ourselves and for you all.” While the response did not include concrete details such as release timing or gameplay footage, it marked one of the few public acknowledgments of the project’s progress in recent months.
Marvel Blade was announced at The Game Awards 2023 as a mature, single-player, third-person action-adventure developed by Arkane Lyon. The game places Eric Brooks, also known as Blade, in a quarantined district of Paris overtaken by vampires. It is being developed using Arkane’s proprietary Void Engine, with a focus on combining the studio’s immersive design philosophy with more direct, combat-driven gameplay.
At present, no release date or gameplay reveal window has been confirmed. While an early financial report has pointed toward a late 2027 launch, Arkane has not publicly endorsed any specific timeline. As a project under the Bethesda and ZeniMax umbrella, Marvel Blade is confirmed for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a day-one release planned for Xbox Game Pass.
