Arc System Works has confirmed that MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will launch on August 6, 2026 for PS5 and PC. The announcement was made during the latest State of Play presentation, where the studio also unveiled a new story trailer and fresh details about the game’s narrative focus, modes, and launch editions.
The newly released trailer introduces a reformed X-Men lineup known as the Unbreakable X-Men. In the game’s storyline, a new threat looms over Earth, forcing the mutant heroes to regroup after a recent conflict leaves several core members unable to fight. With the team weakened, Storm takes command under the guidance of Charles Xavier and assembles a new squad to face the danger ahead.
This roster includes Magik, portrayed as a skilled wielder of both sorcery and her signature Soulsword, and Wolverine, who returns to battle despite his scars. Also joining the lineup is Danger, the formerly virtual Danger Room AI that has gained physical form. The story centers on a familiar tension within the X-Men mythos, as mutants continue to face suspicion and hostility from humanity while still choosing to defend the very world that fears them.
Beyond its core fighting mechanics, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will feature an Episode Mode developed in collaboration with Marvel Games. According to Arc System Works, the narrative, setting, and characters have been specifically tailored for this project. The mode presents a new storyline in which Marvel heroes and villains, including the X-Men, confront an original threat.
Episode Mode blends Western comic book sensibilities with Japanese manga influences, delivering its story through motion comics built around newly illustrated artwork. A writer known for work on original Marvel comics contributed to the worldbuilding and script. The presentation includes full voice acting in 10 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin. On PS5, the game will also support Tempest 3D AudioTech for spatial audio, along with DualSense controller features designed to enhance immersion through haptic feedback.
Players who pre-order the game will receive a set of in-game lobby customization items. These include an Infinity Gauntlet equipment piece, a Baby Groot pet, and a Cosmic Surfboard ride.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be available in three editions at launch. The Standard Edition is priced at $59.99, €69.99, and ¥7,980. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $84.99, €94.99, and ¥10,480, and includes the base game, pre-order bonuses, and a Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass. That pass will add 4 post-launch playable characters and 1 additional stage. The Digital Deluxe Edition also features Howard the Duck as a lobby avatar and Cosmo as a lobby pet.
The Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99, €109.99, and ¥11,980. In addition to all Digital Deluxe content, it includes extra cosmetic items such as alternate costumes for Storm, Captain America, Doctor Doom, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. Spider-Man’s outfit is based on the Advanced Suit 2.0 from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. These costumes will be available until August 5, 2027. The Ultimate Edition also unlocks an Animated Chromatic color option for all 20 characters available at launch.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls arrives on PS5 and PC on August 6, 2026.
