The new Beyond mod for the Steam (PC) version of Capcom’s fighting game, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, has achieved 50,000 downloads.
Maximilian Dood, content creator, fighting game enthusiast and director of the Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and Beyond project, took to Twitter/X to share that the mod has been achieved 50,000 downloads. He thanked all owners of Capcom’s crossover fighting game on Steam who took the time out to install and try out the mod.
As the director of the Beyond project, Max expressed that all he really wanted was for people to find fun in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite the same way hom and select others did before. He said that he couldn’t be happier and is extremely proud of the team that made this all possible.
The downloads tally of 50,000 is in line with recent reports of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite seeing a new surge of activity after the launch of the new Beyond mod. The Steam (PC) mod was released on December 20, 2024, and since then the game has seen a notable increase in concurrent player count that went as high as 1,322 on December 21, 2024.
For those unaware, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and Beyond is a large scale fan-made mod project for the crossover fighting game. It features brand new visuals, revamped gameplay and never-before-seen modes. The mod is only compatible with the Steam version of the game.
Beyond introduces three new offline-only multiplayer modes, each with unique gameplay styles. In terms of modes, Cross Frenzy offers a chaotic multiplayer experience that allow four players to face off (or two players to team up) in simultaneous 2v2 matches. Meanwhile, Single Cross Frenzy is designed for single-player fun, letting players control two characters at once with a single controller. It’s playable in both Story Mode and Arcade Mode. Lastly, Cross Fever is a fresh take on classic Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite gameplay, where each character is independently controlled by one player.
