The Pokémon Company has officially revealed Mega Hawlucha as one of the new Mega Evolutions debuting in Pokémon Legends Z-A. The announcement arrived in the form of a short animated trailer, showcasing the Fighting- and Flying-type Pokémon entering a high-energy battle against Machamp.
The clip, presented as a stylized match highlight, showcases the competitive spirit and dramatic flair that Mega Hawlucha will bring to the battlefield. This highlighted encounter raises the question of whether the bond between Hawlucha and its Trainer will be strong enough to overcome the powerhouse Machamp. While specific abilities and stats are not detailed, the teaser emphasizes the central role of Mega Evolution in the combat system of Pokémon Legends Z-A.
This announcement marks another major milestone for the franchise’s next entry. First unveiled in February 2024, Pokémon Legends Z-A is set entirely within Lumiose City, the central hub of the Kalos region, itself inspired by Paris. The game is being developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It serves as both a spiritual successor to Pokémon Legends: Arceus and a narrative continuation of Pokémon X and Y.
Pokémon Legends Z-A is slated to release on October 16, 2025, for both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. While the version on Switch 2 is expected to feature enhanced visuals and smoother performance, the core gameplay will remain the same across both platforms.
