The Megabonk Spooky Update expands the game with a wide range of new content, including a new map, character, weapons, enemies, and additional achievements and challenges. What started as a smaller seasonal update has grown into a more substantial release, introducing fresh gameplay elements alongside broader system-level improvements.
Beyond new content, the update focuses heavily on balance adjustments, late-game performance improvements, and extensive bug fixes. Several passives, weapons, and enemies have been reworked or tuned, while new advanced settings give experienced players more control without overwhelming new ones.

Settings and Quality of Life
- Added Advanced Settings, disabled by default to prevent clutter for new players
- Added Shrine Counter setting, showing available shrines and those already used
- Added Advanced setting to show or hide the HUD
- Added Advanced setting to skip chest animations, with the trade-off of disabling item banishing from chests
- Added Advanced setting to skip portal spawn animation on stage one
- Added Advanced setting to enable or disable silver pots, with implications for Ghost Item behavior
- Added Advanced setting to display an item pickup feed on the left side of the screen
Balance Changes
- Adjusted enemy spawning behavior to prevent hiding in caves to avoid enemies
- Increased Diceheads passive minimum reward potential from 0.02 to 0.04
- Updated Chunkers to start with one additional projectile
- Updated Amog passive to increase radius per level from 4 to 12 over 220 levels and added 1 percent poison damage per level
- Reduced momentum loss for Calcium when taking damage from roughly 50 percent to about 25 percent, scaling down further with level progression
- Added a proc-per-tick limit of 250 to Cursed Grabbies to improve FPS, resulting in a slight late-game nerf
- Increased Poison Flask starting projectile speed from 12 to 16
- Improved Dragon’s Breath with faster rotation, automatic enemy targeting, increased damage, longer duration, and stronger damage upgrades
- Reduced Noelle size gain per level from 1 percent to 0.75 percent and lowered damage gained per frozen enemy from 2 percent to 1.5 percent
- Reduced Final Swarm maximum silver multiplier from 16x to 8x
- Adjusted Final Swarm enemy behavior to counter flying-focused builds, including increasing ghost speed after 20 minutes and gradually reducing crowd control caps until immunity
Console Features
- Added console access via F10
- Enabled dungeon seed setting for speedrunning purposes
- Added console help command listing available commands and usage instructions
Megabonk was released on September 18, 2025, and is available on PC for Windows and Linux.
