A newly released comparison video is offering a closer look at Metal Gear Solid 4 Remaster, showcasing side by side footage of the original PlayStation 3 version and the newly revealed gameplay from Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 running on PlayStation 5. The visual differences appear immediately noticeable, with the updated footage reflecting improved clarity and overall presentation.
The comparison focuses specifically on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, originally launched on PlayStation 3, and contrasts it with the remastered version featured in Konami’s upcoming collection. While the original release was praised for pushing PS3 hardware at the time, the PlayStation 5 version demonstrates cleaner image quality and enhanced detail in the newly revealed footage. The results, based on the comparison, suggest a clear modernization of the experience rather than a simple port.
Konami previously confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 will launch on August 27, 2026. The collection was officially revealed during Sony’s State of Play presentation, continuing the publisher’s initiative to bring legacy entries in the franchise to current platforms within a unified package. Pre-orders are currently available on the PlayStation Store.
In addition to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the collection includes Metal Gear Soli:d Peace Walker in its HD Collection version. Also part of the package is Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel, the handheld entry originally released in 2000, which will be accessible through the Bonus Content section.
Each title in the collection will include a digital scenario book containing the complete in-game text, as well as a master book offering expanded background information on story elements and characters. The digital edition also features Metal Gear Solid Digital Soundtrack Vol 2, compiling music tracks from across the included titles.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 is scheduled to launch on August 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, Xbox Series S and X, and PC.
