Metroid Prime 2 Remastered Reportedly Set To Release Soon

Nintendo and Retro Studios’ Metroid Prime 2 Remastered is scheduled to release sometime soon, based on the latest information.

Speaking during the latest episode of Last of the Nintendogs, host Jeff Grubb, who is known for his sources within the game industry, stated that Metroid Prime 2 Remastered is set to release “relatively soonish”.

According to Grubb, Metroid Prime 2 Remastered is mostly going to be what fans want. He clarified that it will feature modern controls and and will be rendered in high definition and things like that, but it’s not going to get the love and care from the development team that Metroid Prime Remastered received. In addition to Metroid Prime 2 Remastered, Grubb mentioned that something related to Zelda but unrelated to Tears of the Kingdom is set to happen later this year.

A few months ago, Jeff Grubb had stated in an episode of Game Mess Mornings that, based on his understanding, Metroid Prime 2 and 3 Remastered would also see the light of day on the Nintendo Switch. However, much like now, he had stated back then that the second and third game in the Prime series would not receive the same remaster treatment that the first game did.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the GameCube, is an action-adventure game that continues the story of Metroid Prime (2002). Echoes marks the first installment in the Metroid series to include a multiplayer mode. It launched in North America, Europe, and Australia in 2004, while Japan saw its release under the title “Metroid Prime 2: Dark Echoes” in May 2005.

The game focuses on around bounty hunter Samus Aran, who embarks on a rescue mission to save Galactic Federation Marines from a ship located near Aether, a planet inhabited by a race known as the Luminoth. Upon her arrival, she uncovers a grim reality—the troops have fallen victim to the Ing, a hostile race from an alternate dimension of Aether. Now, Samus must navigate through four temples, confront the malevolent Ing, combat wild creatures, Space Pirates, and even face her enigmatic doppelgänger, Dark Samus.
