Metroid Prime 4 Surpasses One Million Sales

Nintendo has confirmed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has surpassed one million copies sold when combining sales across Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The clarification follows questions regarding the game’s absence from Nintendo’s million-seller list for the period ending December 31, 2025.

The confirmation was shared by journalist Stephen Totilo on X. Totilo wrote, “Following some consternation about neither the Switch nor Switch 2 versions of Metroid Prime 4 (Dec. 4) making Nintendo’s million-seller list for the period ending Dec 31, a Nintendo rep told to me today that combined sales of those 2 versions have in fact passed a million copies.” The statement indicates that while individual platform breakdowns were not listed, the total across both systems has crossed the milestone.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an action-adventure first-person game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo. It serves as the fourth main entry in the Metroid Prime sub-series and stars series protagonist Samus Aran. In the game, Samus explores the uncharted planet Viewros while confronting her long-standing rival, Sylux.

The title’s development history spans several years. Production initially began in 2017 but was later restarted in 2019, with development duties returning to Retro Studios. The game ultimately launched worldwide on December 4, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

As of February 2026, combined sales across the two platforms have exceeded one million units. While Nintendo has not provided a platform-specific sales split, the confirmation places Metroid Prime 4: Beyond among the company’s million-selling titles for the current fiscal period, even if it did not appear as such in earlier public lists.
