Microsoft Is Allegedly In Talks To Bring Deadpool & Other De-listed Marvel Games Back On Sale

Microsoft is allegedly in talks to bring Deadpool and other de-listed games from Marvel’s catalog back on sale on the Xbox store.

During the latest episode of the Xbox Era podcast, co-host Shpeshal Nick mentioned hearing that Microsoft is working to get Deadpool and Marvel Ultimate Alliance re-licensed in order to bring themback on the Xbox store. They were originally Xbox One titles, and would run on Xbox Series consoles via backward compatibility.

Nick further clarified that he’s only saying that Microsoft is currently working through the process of bringing Deadpool and Marvel Ultimate Alliance back to the Xbox store, which means there’s a chance that it ultimately may not come to fruition. According to him, bringing back the Deadpool game on the Xbox store is a no-brainer, as the recent movie based on the character is doing exceptionally well at the box office. He said that Microsoft didn’t anticipate what the movie was going to do and probably should have had the game available for new Xbox buyers by now.

For the uninitiated, Deadpool is an action adventure game based on the Marvel Comics antihero of the same name. It developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision. The game was released in June, 2013 for Microsoft Windows (digital only), PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It became available once again on Steam and the PlayStation Store in the US on July 15, 2016. It was re-released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2015, including all original DLC, to align with the 2016 Deadpool film. However, on November 16, 2017, the game was once again removed from digital stores due to licensing problems.

The game’s story, written by Daniel Way, features Deadpool teaming up with Cable and the X-Men to stop Mister Sinister’s latest plot, with plenty of comedic moments along the way. Like other Deadpool media, the game includes self-referential humor and frequent fourth wall breaks.
