Minecraft Bedrock Edition 26.0 Patch Notes Add New Versioning and Major Fixes

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 26.0 marks the start of a new annual version numbering system and delivers a substantial update centered on technical fixes, experimental features, and broad quality improvements. The update aligns several mechanics more closely with Java Edition while addressing long-standing bugs across dimensions, mobs, items, and interfaces.

This release also includes early experimental content, such as craftable Name Tags and redesigned baby mobs, alongside extensive stability, visual, and usability fixes across platforms, Realms, and multiplayer systems.

Patch Notes

General Updates

  • Introduced a new annual version numbering system starting with 26 for both Bedrock and Java Edition
  • Future releases will follow the same year-based numbering structure

Experimental Features

  • Craftable Name Tags
    • Name Tags can now be crafted using paper and any metal nugget
    • Feature is available under the Drop 1 of 2026 experimental toggle
  • Baby Mob Redesigns
    • Updated models, textures, and bounding boxes for Cow, Mooshroom, Pig, Wolf, Rabbit, Cat, Ocelot, Chicken, and Sheep
    • Bounding boxes now align with Java Edition
    • Rabbits received fully new adult and baby animations

    • Fixed Nether Portals failing to ignite with lava
    • Fixed End gateway portals teleporting players into the void
  • Nautilus Improvements
    • Added new swimming animations with head-retracting propulsion
    • Improved movement logic to prevent getting stuck on block edges
    • Nautilus now navigate around obstacles when tempted
    • Removed spinning during vertical movement
    • Fixed slow vertical swimming speed
    • Added swim sounds for Nautilus and baby Nautilus
    • Zombie Nautilus now includes swim sounds
    • Added alternate ambient, hurt, and death sounds when on land
    • Fixed visual gap between head and shell
    • Fixed permanently increased speed after becoming hostile
    • Water Breathing now prevents suffocation outside water

Mob Fixes and Changes

  • Baby Mob Drops
    • Baby Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Drowned, and Husks now drop items
    • Baby Squid and Glow Squid no longer drop items
    • Baby Drowned can now spawn with Tridents
    • Adjusted Drowned Trident and Fishing Rod spawn ratios to match Java Edition
  • Zombie Variants
    • Adjusted Zombie and Husk Riders spawning with Copper Armor
    • Fixed Zombie Horse riders using incorrect loot tables
    • Fixed baby zombie variants forming Chicken Jockeys
    • Expanded list of mobs that baby undead variants can mount
  • Horse and Mount Changes
    • Baby Horses, Donkeys, and Mules no longer gradually increase in size
    • Baby Zombie Horses can no longer be ridden or equipped
    • Baby Zombie Horses no longer grow into adults
    • Fixed shrinking behavior during Zombie Horse growth
    • Corrected heart display for newly grown mounts
  • Undead Mob Adjustments
    • Skeleton Horses, Zombie Horses, Zombie Nautilus, and Husk Camels no longer take Conduit damage
    • These mobs no longer prevent players from sleeping
    • Removed panic behavior when damaged
    • Zombie Horses and Zombie Nautilus no longer burn while swimming

    • Johnny Vindicators now correctly attack all non-illager mobs
    • Drowned can control Zombie Nautilus mounts

    • Improved Polar Bear pathing during stomp attacks

    • Diamond Horse Armor now provides 2 toughness
    • Golden Horse Armor provides no toughness
    • Netherite Horse Armor now provides 3 toughness
    • Diamond Nautilus Armor provides 2 toughness
    • Netherite Nautilus Armor provides 3 toughness
    • Armor UI now displays toughness, armor, and knockback resistance when applicable
  • Item Fixes
    • Fixed items not flowing correctly in water
    • Fixed Bundle contents not saving in Chests
    • Fixed stuck map markers after deleting Locator Maps
    • Fixed trimmed armor visuals after suspend or resume
    • Corrected carried item scaling with HD texture packs
    • Fixed spear rotation during charge animations
    • Corrected Spawn Egg sorting for Piglins
    • Prevented storage item contents from being deleted when equipped
    • Added equip sounds for Nautilus Armor and underwater saddles
