Monster Hunter Wilds Update 1.021 Introduces Tempered Monsters, New Appraisal Items, and Major Weapon Balancing

Monster Hunter Wilds update 1.021 delivers a substantial content refresh, introducing tempered versions of nine monsters for high-rank hunters, a new Glowing Stone appraisal item, and expanded armor upgrade limits. Players can also enjoy improved equipment management, additional control options, and enhanced world map navigation.

The patch further brings extensive weapon balancing across all classes, underwater combat improvements, and multiple bug fixes. Meal effect durations have been increased, several monsters have received behavior adjustments, and system stability has been enhanced to ensure smoother online and offline play.

Major Additions and Changes

  • Monsters:
    • Tempered versions of nine monsters now appear in 9★ quests at HR 100+: Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, Jin Dahaad, Gore Magala, Arkveld, Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, Seregios.
    • Regular and tempered Rey Dau and Nu Udra now appear in Wounded Hollow at HR 100+.
    • Adjusted monster appearance rates at HR 100+.
    • Increased appearance rate of standard monsters.
  • Player:
    • Added Glowing Stone appraisal item from 9★ quests; yields random skill talismans.
    • Increased upgrade limit for rarity 5+ armor.
  • System:
    • Option to hide/show specific ammo and coatings in the Ammo/Coatings Bar.
    • Added Recoil Aim Assist.
    • Added Favorites feature for weapons, armor, and talismans.
    • Sorting by Favorites now available in equipment and materials boxes.
    • Improved world map cursor movement.
  • Bases and Facilities:
    • Added new Appraised Talisman feature to the Melding Pot.

Bug Fixes and Balance Adjustments

  • Increased meal effect duration for multiple food sources.
  • Fixed issues affecting Focus Strikes, mounted combat, and monster hit detection.
  • Improved underwater combat controls and item usage.
  • Weapon Adjustments:
    • Great Sword: Faster combos, increased raw and elemental damage.
    • Long Sword: Reduced input delay for Iai Spirit Slash.
    • Sword & Shield: Increased Counter Slash damage.
    • Dual Blades: New Turning Tidedrill finisher, improved mobility and Perfect Evade window.
    • Hunting Horn: Added armor properties to Hilt Stab, improved chaining options.
    • Lance: Widespread damage increases, improved guard transitions, reduced sharpness loss.
    • Gunlance: Fixed Burst Fire issue with Load Shells Lv 2.
    • Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Insect Glaive: Improved hit detection, damage scaling, and offset detection.
    • Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun: Increased ammo damage, recovery speeds, and reload speeds.
    • Bow: Fixed Arc Shot disappearing issue.
  • Skills:
    • Adjusted effects and durations for Bubbly Dance, War Cry, Powerhouse, Burst Boost, Affinity Sliding, Shock Absorber, and Ballistics.
  • Support Hunters:
    • Adjusted to match Lance changes, fixed underwater AI issues.
  • Seikret:
    • Improved turning speed, dismount timing, and map access.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Fixed crashes, network errors, UI bugs, and text issues.

Monster Hunter Wilds is a 2025 action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. It is a successor to Monster Hunter: World (2018) and was released worldwide on February 28, 2025, for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with cross-platform play support.
