Monster Hunter Wilds Update 1.021 to Launch August 13 With Early Endgame Expansion and Key Fixes

Capcom has officially confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive its next major update, Ver.1.021, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The patch, which was initially slated for early August, introduces a suite of new content and adjustments, including expanded endgame features originally intended for a later update.

According to a statement from the official Monster Hunter account, the development team has decided to move forward with some of the content that had previously been scheduled for Free Title Update 3, originally expected in late September. This includes a new tier of high-difficulty quests and a corresponding reward system centered around Talismans that offer random skill combinations, bringing a new layer of customization to the game’s late-stage progression.

Weapon balance adjustments are also part of the upcoming patch, with more weapon types receiving tuning than originally planned. Capcom has emphasized that additional gameplay refinements and technical improvements will be included as well, although full patch notes are expected to be shared closer to the release date.

As a result of this schedule adjustment, Capcom is extending the in-game Flamefete seasonal event. Originally set to conclude on August 6, it will now remain active until the new patch drops on August 13. Players will have additional time to collect special event-themed gear, login rewards, meals, and cosmetics as part of the celebration.

In terms of technical fixes, the Ver.1.021 update will resolve a known issue that could cause the game to crash when a network error overlaps with certain gestures, such as the “Water Gun.” Capcom clarified that this bug is not related to gesture spamming but rather to a specific client-side condition.

A current challenge event, the Arch-Tempered Uth Duna Free Challenge Quest, will remain unaffected by balance changes, as the update falls outside the window of its availability. The quest is live from July 28 through August 12, ensuring a consistent gameplay environment during its duration.

In a recent Mini Director’s Letter, series director Yuya Tokuda elaborated on the development team’s plans for the near future. Free Title Update 2, which includes fan-favorite monsters Lagiacrus and Seregios, is now live. It also introduces Layered Weapons and improved usability, balance changes, and enhanced stability, especially for PC users.

Looking beyond August, Capcom reiterated its roadmap for upcoming content. Free Title Update 3, previously expected to debut new endgame challenges and the Talisman system, has been partially brought forward into the Ver.1.021 patch. Additional details will still arrive later in the year.

Further ahead, Free Title Update 4 is scheduled for this winter. It will include a new monster, greater challenges, and efforts to maintain the viability of Artian weapons, which have become central to many players’ loadouts.

Monster Hunter Wilds launched worldwide on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. As the successor to Monster Hunter: World, the game continues to evolve through regular free updates, all of which support cross-platform play. Capcom has reaffirmed its commitment to rolling out major content patches every few months, in addition to regular bug fixes and performance updates.
