Mortal Kombat 1 Officially Revealed: Release Date, Pre-Order Bonus, and Editions Detailed
Warner Bros. Games has shared the first details on Mortal Kombat 1, which is confirmed to launch on September 19, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Mortal Kombat 1 is being termed a reboot of the franchise and will kickstart a new chapter in the Mortal Kombat saga. The series has now sold more than 80 million copies across its various entries. In this reboot, the Mortal Kombat universe has been crafted from scratch by the Fire God Liu Kang and will feature reimagined versions of classic characters.
NetherRealm’s signature Story Mode is back with an immersive cinematic narrative. It features surprising takes on classic rivalries and original backstories for a broad cast of legendary fighters, including Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and many others. Mortal Kombat 1 will also introduce Kameo Fighters, a unique roster of partner characters that can assist during matches, offering expanded gameplay opportunities for players.

We’re eager to showcase this feature, as well as other new game elements, very soon.”
Starting from May 19, Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders will be available on all launch platforms. The game will be released in three editions: Standard, Premium, and Kollector’s Edition, each with unique content and bonuses. Notably, the Kombat Pack included in the Premium and Kollector’s Edition will feature a Johnny Cage character skin bearing the likeness of the renowned actor and martial artist, Jean-Claude Van Damme.
All pre-orders will grant Shang Tsung as an in-game playable character. Those who pre-order the game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will also receive access to the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta, which will be available in August 2023.
