Brief videos from the set of The Legend of Zelda movie recently offering an early look at its production. One of them showed Princess Zelda actress Bo Bragason standing beside a pair of horses, interacting with a mysterious individual who gives her a weapon. We now know the identity of this character (via farourage on Twitter/X) as well as the name of the actress playing the role.
The Legend of Zelda Movie Mysterious Character Revealed
The mysterious character who hands over a sword to Princess Zelda in the leaked footage from set of The Legend of Zelda movie is none other than Impa, and she is played by Australian actress Dichen Lachman.

Dichen Lachman is widely recognized for portraying Katya Kinski on the soap opera Neighbours (2005–2007), Sierra in Joss Whedon’s sci-fi drama Dollhouse (2009–2010), and Ms. Casey in the ongoing series Severance (2022–present). She has also appeared in a variety of other television shows, including Being Human (2012), Last Resort (2012–2013), and Altered Carbon (2018–2020), and played Jiaying in the superhero series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2014–2020).
The second leaked video from the set of The Legend of Zelda movie showed a brief glimpse of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, as he wore a green outfit. Check out both videos here.
Production on The Legend of Zelda film recently began in Wellington, New Zealand. It entered principal photography on November 4, 2025, and is scheduled to continue through April 7, 2026. A worldwide theatrical release is planned for May 7, 2027. The project brings together an impressive creative team led by director Wes Ball, best known for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and legendary Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto, the original creator of The Legend of Zelda series. According to the official production synopsis, the film will closely follow the franchise’s foundational narrative.
