NCSoft’s Horizon MMO Based On Guerrilla Games’ Franchise Has Reportedly Been Canceled

A Massively Multiplayer Online game (MMO) based on Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series that has been in development at NCSoft has been canceled, based on a new report.

According to a report from Money Today Broadcasting (MTN), some of NCsoft’s upcoming games, including the Horizon MMO, have been canceled as a result of a feasibility review performed by the company. Games including “Pantera”, “H”, and “J”, are reportedly included in the list of canceled titles. Jaeuk Lee, former senior artist at NCSoft, had listed “H” as Project Skyline, previously known to be an MMO based on Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series, on his LinkedIn profile, as seen in the screenshot below.

The mention of Skyline has since been removed from his resume, however. He had worked on the Unreal Engine title from 2021 to 2023.

As per an interview with MTN on January 13, 2025, the development teams behind the aforementioned titles, including Project “H” (Skyline), were notified to halt development. Project “H” has already disappeared from the company’s organizational chart. The decision to cancel these games was made towards the end of last year in 2024. At the beginning of 2025, the development teams were reportedly notified to prepare for internal transfers. In the case of ‘H’, it is reported that the team will be transferred to Lineage’s IP headquarters after the development office is shutdown.

Horizon mmo canceled

Not to be confused with the canceled Horizon MMO (Project Skyline), the Horizon Online live service game is still in development at Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier had mentioned last year during a podcast that the studio’s next major release will be Horizon Online rather than the third mainline installment in the Horizon series. “And their plan…I mean, Horizon Online is their next product, not the third single-player game, looks like. So, that one may be ways off,” Schreier said.
