New Avengers Doomsday Teaser Spotlights Thor’s Return

Marvel Studios has released a new teaser trailer for Avengers Doomsday, this time placing the spotlight firmly on Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth. The teaser debuted online after first screening in theaters alongside Avatar: Fire and Ash. It follows an earlier teaser that focused on Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, portrayed by Chris Evans.

The Thor-centered teaser presents a more serious and restrained version of the character. Thor is shown with a shorter hairstyle reminiscent of his appearances in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War. In the brief footage, he is seen offering a prayer to his father, Odin, asking for the strength to continue fighting. During the scene, Thor pleads to “defeat one more enemy” so that he may return home to his adopted daughter, Love.

This teaser follows the first Doomsday preview released in mid-December 2025. That initial clip marked the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and depicted him arriving at a quiet home, examining his shield, and holding a newborn child. The scene strongly suggested a continuation of the alternate timeline created at the end of Avengers: Endgame, where Rogers reunited with Peggy Carter. Together, the two teasers establish a pattern of character-driven reveals centered on family and legacy rather than large-scale action.

According to circulating rumors referenced alongside the release, Marvel plans to unveil a total of four teasers for Avengers Doomsday, meaning two additional previews are expected. However, Disney’s plans have already been partially disrupted. On December 28, 2025, footage believed to be the third teaser leaked online. This leaked material reportedly shifts focus to the X Men, showcasing a bleak future where the X Mansion lies in ruins. The clip includes a voiceover from Magneto, played by Ian McKellen, and features Cyclops, portrayed by James Marsden, attacking a Sentinel while wearing a comic-accurate suit. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X is also seen sharing a quiet scene with Magneto over a chessboard.

Avengers Doomsday is scheduled to release in theaters on December 18, 2026. The film is directed by the Russo Brothers and serves as the fifth mainline Avengers installment. It replaces the previously planned Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and centers on the arrival of Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. While a teaser featuring Doom has not yet been officially released, it is widely rumored to be the focus of the final preview.
