Capcom has announced a new wave of officially licensed merchandise for its long-dormant Dino Crisis series, delivered through a limited-time online lottery campaign. The initiative has caught the attention of fans who have been calling for the survival horror franchise’s return for more than two decades.
The Dino Crisis Online Lottery, running from August 8 to September 12, 2025, offers participants a chance to win a variety of themed collectibles. Each draw costs 880 yen, with a discounted 10-draw set available for 7,920 yen. Prizes include a free-size sweatshirt, desk mats, pouches, acrylic stands, key holders, and stickers, each adorned with imagery and motifs from the original games. Every ticket guarantees a win, a common feature of Japan’s online lottery-style merchandise promotions. Items are expected to ship between late December 2025 and early January 2026.
The franchise, created by Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami, debuted in 1999 and blended action-adventure with survival horror, replacing zombies with ferocious dinosaurs in isolated settings. Despite selling 4.5 million units worldwide as of December 2024, the series has been inactive since Dino Crisis 3 in 2003. While Capcom has not announced any plans for a revival, the sudden release of new official merchandise has renewed speculation.
Fan interest in the property has persisted for years, with calls for remasters or remakes growing louder in recent times. Earlier in 2025, both Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 were re-released on GOG.com as part of a preservation initiative, further fueling hopes. While history has shown that merchandise campaigns do not always lead to new game announcements, Capcom’s move has been enough to spark discussions across social media about the possibility of a return to the prehistoric horror setting.
