A completely new Evangelion series is now in production, according to an announcement made during the “Final Program” event held on Monday, February 23. The reveal took place on the closing day of the EVANGELION 30 plus 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION festival, marking three decades since the franchise first debuted.

The initial production report confirmed key creative staff attached to the project. Series composition and screenplay duties will be handled by Yoko Taro. Directing responsibilities will be shared by Kazuya Tsurumaki and Toko Yatabe. Music for the new Evangelion series will be composed by Keiichi Okabe. Production is being led by Studio Khara in collaboration with CloverWorks.

The announcement signals a new chapter for the Evangelion franchise, which originally premiered in 1995. The television series introduced audiences to a world where teenagers pilot biomechanical Evangelions to defend Tokyo 3 from mysterious beings known as Angels. Over time, the narrative evolved into a psychologically driven exploration of identity, trauma, and interpersonal connection.

The original series, directed by Hideaki Anno, became widely recognized for its thematic depth and unconventional storytelling approach. Its final episodes and subsequent film conclusion generated extensive discussion and analysis, contributing to the franchise’s long-standing cultural impact.

Details regarding the plot, setting, or release window for the new Evangelion series have not yet been disclosed. The announcement was limited to confirmation of production and key staff involvement. Further information is expected at a later date as the project moves forward.
