New Exodus Trailer Highlights Hero Jun Aslan

by Greg Martin

Wizards of the Coast and Archetype Entertainment used The Game Awards stage to unveil a new trailer for Exodus, offering the clearest look yet at its central protagonist, Jun Aslan. The footage sets the stage for an interstellar adventure in which a single hero must confront growing threats across the galaxy while carrying the burden of a legacy few fully understand.

Jun is introduced as a character whose modest upbringing masks a powerful lineage. As a descendant of a distinguished Traveler family, he possesses rare genetic traits that grant abilities unlike those of any other human. The trailer positions these gifts as both a responsibility and a source of conflict as Jun wrestles with who he is and who he might become.

Player choice plays a defining role in shaping that journey. Archetype notes that decisions made throughout the narrative will ripple across generations, influencing Jun’s identity, his relationships, and the fate of his home world. These branching outcomes form the backbone of the game’s storytelling, anchoring a narrative that reaches far beyond traditional hero arcs.

Exodus also emphasizes player freedom in how they approach each encounter. Missions can be tackled through stealth or direct combat, with both styles designed to offer meaningful rewards. As players progress, they will gain access to a range of weapons, abilities, and combat synergies, deepening the strategic layers of the experience. Companions introduced along the way add further depth, bringing personal motivations, side quests, and lore that broaden the scope of the universe.

The trailer features another appearance by C.C. Orlev, a mysterious figure whose guidance appears to shape key moments in Jun’s path. Orlev is voiced and portrayed by Matthew McConaughey in his first video game role, adding a notable presence to an already ambitious production.

Speaking on the themes behind the project, Chad Robertson, VP of Game Development at Archetype Entertainment, said that the story focuses on humanity’s resilience and the extraordinary moments that emerge in times of despair. Wizards of the Coast President John Hight added that Exodus explores a future shaped by advanced technology and far-reaching transformation, where choices carry consequences that span entire worlds.

Exodus is scheduled to launch in early 2027, setting the stage for what the studio aims to be a sweeping sci-fi epic defined as much by player agency as by its grand narrative scale.
