New GTA VI Leak Emerges In An Unusual Manner & Highlights Impressive Animation Work

A new leak for Rockstar Games’ upcoming open world action-adventure game, GTA VI, appears to have emerged in a rather unusual manner.

An alleged demo reel showing the work of Benjamin Chue, Senior 3D Animator at Rockstar Games, recently surfaced on Vimeo (via Reddit user throwaway-sadkid8012). The video was subsequently deleted, though a mirror is available here. The leak contains early footage/concept motion capture work for multiple Rockstar Games projects, apparently including GTA VI.

Leaked GTA VI Motion Capture Work

The aforementioned video containing early footage/concept motion capture work for multiple Rockstar Games projects, including GTA VI, can be seen below.

The video begins with motion capture footage of a man, likely an early placeholder character model for GTA VI’s male protagonist, Jason Duval, removing his bike from a parking lot, mounting it, dismounting it, and then parking it once again. It is followed by motion capture footage of a woman, likely an early placeholder character model for GTA VI’s female protagonist, Lucia Caminos, hoping off a pickup truck.

Interestingly, these first two clips were specifically timestamped and labeled as footage from GTA VI in the video description on Vimeo.

In related news, during a recent episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, known insider Tom Henderson claimed that GTA VI has been content complete for a while now, and that he doesn’t believe it will receive another delay. According to him, the focus for the next year will be on polishing up the game and making it as perfect and as stable as possible in order to avoid a Cyberpunk 2077-like debacle. Regarding the recent delay, he said that Rockstar Games will not release GTA VI until it is practically perfect. He believes that if there’s a “single glitch that Rockstar can fix”, the game simply won’t see the light of day.
