Sony appears to be preparing another hardware revision for its PlayStation 5 Pro console, according to a report from reliable insider Billbil-kun. The upcoming model, identified as CFI-7121, is expected to launch in Europe on September 30, 2025.
The new revision does not seem to include any sweeping changes on the surface. Instead, it is believed to follow the trend of past PlayStation hardware refreshes, focusing on subtle internal adjustments that could improve energy efficiency or production costs. At this stage, there is no indication of design alterations, and importantly, the console will retain its 2 TB SSD storage capacity.
This approach differs from Sony’s recent handling of the PS5 Slim revision in Europe, which quietly launched in an E-Chassis variant that reduced storage capacity from 1 TB to 825 GB. That change sparked criticism from players who expected performance and value to remain consistent across revisions. Fortunately, reports suggest no such downgrade is planned for the PS5 Pro update.
Certification documents filed in Japan earlier this year hinted that a Pro revision was in the works, but it was unclear whether it would arrive in Europe. The confirmation that it will be available by late September offers clarity to prospective buyers waiting on Sony’s next move.
Pricing for the revised model is expected to remain steady at €799.99. This follows Sony’s recent price adjustments that saw the PS5 Pro increase from 700 to 800 USD in several regions. Microsoft has also raised the price of its Xbox consoles, reflecting broader industry trends.
While the scale of improvements for the PS5 Pro CFI-7121 remains uncertain, the console’s upcoming launch in Europe ensures Sony continues its strategy of incremental revisions. Players can expect the same level of storage, performance, and design, with the possibility of more efficient internal hardware.
