Pre-alpha gameplay footage from EA and Battlefield Studios’ next entry in its first-person shooter series, Battlefield, has been revealed.
The official Battlefield YouTube channel has shared a new video, showcasing the first ever gameplay footage from the next entry in the first-person shooter series. The video also introduced Battlefield Studios, a new global team formed by merging four studios with over 20 years of Battlefield experience alongside fresh industry talent. This unified team aims to redefine the future of the franchise with ambitious plans to deliver the best possible experience for players.
Currently in the early stages of development, Battlefield Studios is now opening up testing for the next entry in the series through what it calls Battlefield Labs. This new initiative invites the community to participate in shaping the game’s evolution by testing combat mechanics, modes, and other features while providing valuable feedback. The collaboration aims to ensure that player voices directly influence the direction of the series.
Registration for Battlefield Labs is now open, though the developer has cautioned that spaces will be limited. Those who are interested are advised to sign up on on EA’s official Battlefield portal as early as possible.
As for the brief gameplay teased in the video, it looks like the next Battlefield will return the series to its roots, with greater focus on destruction. The game appears to feature a modern physics engine with a complex destruction model. It’s tough to say anything else about the game without seeing more footage. Despite the failure of Battlefield 2042, there is hope that the series will regain lost glory under the leadership of the Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella.
