Next-Gen Xbox Codenamed Magnus Specs Have Allegedly Been Finalized, On Track For 2027 Launch

The hardware specs of the next-gen Xbox console, codenamed Magnus, have been finalized, according to a new rumor.

In his recent YouTube video, hardware insider and content creator Moore’s Law Is Dead (MLID) claimed that the specs and silicon design for Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox console, codenamed Magnus, have been finalized, a milestone that puts the system firmly on track for a 2027 launch window. His information originated from a long-trusted source who has “worked directly on Xbox Magnus” and has “never been wrong about anything they’ve told me.” The leaker stated that both the GPU chiplet and CPU die for the system were completed in recent months.

MLID clarified, “It’s not just like the blueprints are done or the idea of it is done or even just the rough schematics of the silicon are done. Everything, the wiring, the bumps, every little thing on this is done.” He compared it to a car manufacturer being finished not just with design sketches, but with knowing “where every little wire, every little screw was going to go” before sending it off for manufacturing test units.

While some minor cleanup work may have remained on certain metal layers of the silicon dies, MLID suggested that even that phase is likely complete by now. “For all intents and purposes, Xbox Magnus’ exact silicon is done. It is ready to be sent to manufactured test units,” he said. The console is reportedly powered by AMD’s upcoming RDNA 5 architecture. The hardware insider claimed the GPU chiplet inside Magnus is “literally the same chip that will be used to make the successor to the 9070 XT next year.” This would also suggest that RDNA 5 discrete GPUs are also on schedule to launch by mid or late 2027.

MLID dismissed the idea that the next-gen Xbox project may be canceled. “You don’t go this far into the design process and then cancel a product,” he argued.
