Ninja Gaiden 4 Update 1.004.000 Adds Two Masters DLC

Ninja Gaiden 4 update 1.004.000 introduces The Two Masters, the first major story expansion for the action title. The update adds new story chapters, additional enemies, new trials, and two weapons tied to the dual protagonists Yakumo and Ryu.

Alongside the expansion content, the patch delivers several gameplay adjustments and quality of life improvements. These include the new Weapon Sets customization feature, combat responsiveness tweaks, reduced loading times, and a wide range of fixes addressing progression issues and combat mechanics.

New Content

The Two Masters DLC

  • The Two Masters DLC is now available for players who purchased it separately or through the Deluxe Edition or Deluxe Upgrade.
  • New story content included in The Two Masters.
  • Players must complete the base game story on any difficulty to access the new DLC story content.

New Weapons

  • Solitaire weapon added for Yakumo.
  • Jakotsumon weapon added for Ryu.
  • Both weapons unlock immediately.
  • If the tutorial has not been completed, the weapons unlock starting from the chapter Bloodsoaked Tokyo.

New Mode

Abyssal Road

  • New mode unlocked after completing The Two Masters story content on any difficulty.

New Trials

  • Additional trials unlock after completing The Two Masters story content on any difficulty.

Additional Content

  • New enemies added.
  • New accessories introduced.
  • New trophies and achievements added.

Free Update Features

Weapon Sets

  • Added Weapon Sets feature to customize weapon and ninpo wheel layout.
  • Accessible from the Equipment menu.

Gameplay Options

  • Added option to skip the sequence triggered when the player dies.
  • Controller layout and mouse and keyboard layout options added to the initial bootup settings.

Combat Changes

  • Added invincibility frames to the startup of specific moves.

Universal

  • Fatal Flash gains invincibility frames until the moment required to perform a Perfect Fatal Flash.

  • Twin Blades move down up Y or triangle now has invincibility frames.
  • Twin Blades rotate stick plus X or square now has invincibility frames.
  • Tachi move down up Y or triangle now has invincibility frames.

Yatousen

  • Lance move down up Y or triangle now has invincibility frames.

Kage Hiruko

  • Assassin’s Tools rotate stick plus X or square now has invincibility frames.
  • Mechanical Arms move down up Y or triangle now has invincibility frames.

Dark Dragon Blade

  • Base rotate stick plus X or square now has invincibility frames.
  • Shadow gleam rotate stick plus Y or triangle now has invincibility frames.

Dragon Sword

  • Base rotate stick plus X or square now has invincibility frames.
  • Gleam rotate stick plus Y or triangle now has invincibility frames.

Additional Combat Adjustments

  • Twin Blades can now cancel a mid air Y or triangle attack after striking the ground.
  • Twin Blades can cancel a mid air Y or triangle attack into an Ultimate Technique after striking the ground.
  • Slightly increased the homing properties of Wind Run.
  • Burabura enemies now drop essence when defeated.
  • Burabura enemies do not drop essence when they self destruct.
  • Adjusted enemy transparency when positioned in front of the camera to improve combat visibility.

Performance Improvements

  • Slightly reduced loading times.

Major Fixes

Gameplay Fixes

  • Fixed targeting issues with on landing Ultimate Techniques when no directional input is used after Wind Path.
  • Fixed missing invincibility frames during the follow up heavy attack Mirage after a Perfect Reverse Wind.
  • Reduced chances of falling off ledges when performing a Wind Path or jump shuriken.

Chapter Fixes

  • Chapter 6 Guiding Winds fixed a progression issue after falling out of bounds in a specific area.
  • Chapter 8 Drowned District fixed an out of bounds issue after performing an Obliteration Technique against an Ilcanis.
  • Chapter 11 Infiltration fixed an out of bounds issue when using Raven Gear before detection.
  • Chapter 19 Ebon Wings fixed an issue where Ryu could step outside the stage bounds during the battle with Ryu.
  • Chapter 6 Guiding Winds fixed lighting flickers in certain areas.
  • Chapter 3 Phantom Pleasure Quarter fixed an issue where the pulse wave from Kitsune Courtesan phase changes prevented players from achieving Untouchable.
  • Chapter 12 Dragon’s Maw fixed an issue preventing Ninja Coin and experience accumulation from enemies falling off ledges in specific areas.
  • Chapter 11 Infiltration fixed incorrect Purgatory enemy information display.

Additional Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the transition to the game over screen after dying as Ryu during a Trial was longer than when playing as Yakumo.
  • Various other minor fixes implemented.

PC Specific Fix

Microsoft Store and Steam

  • Fixed an issue where certain hardware configurations prompted players to update drivers even when no update was required.

Ninja Gaiden 4 launched globally on October 21, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, and was also released on Xbox Game Pass on day one. The update introduces the first major story expansion titled The Two Masters, alongside new modes, weapons, and gameplay improvements.
