Nintendo has expanded its Super Nintendo – Nintendo Classics library for October 2025, adding three notable titles from the early 1990s. The update introduces Mario & Wario, Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, and Fatal Fury Special, giving subscribers access to a new selection of action, puzzle, and fighting games that reflect the diverse catalog of the Super NES era.
Originally released in Japan for the Super Famicom system in 1993, Mario & Wario is a puzzle-action game developed by Game Freak. In this title, Wario traps Mario under a bucket, and players must guide the blinded plumber safely to Luigi by controlling Wanda, a forest fairy who can manipulate platforms and interact with the environment. The game features 100 levels of puzzles that rely on mouse-based controls, offering a rare opportunity for international audiences to experience a Japan-exclusive release for the first time through the Nintendo Classics service.
The lineup also includes Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, released in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game follows Bubsy the bobcat on a quest to reclaim his stolen yarn from the alien race known as the Woolies. Featuring 16 large stages filled with hidden areas and fast-paced platforming, Bubsy is remembered for its colorful art style and humor, as well as its place in the early era of mascot-driven platformers that followed the popularity of Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World.
Rounding out the October additions is Fatal Fury Special, the 1995 fighting game from SNK that expanded upon Fatal Fury 2. The title features 15 playable characters, including returning fighters and new entrants such as Billy Kane, Axel Hawk, and Laurence Blood. It also includes the series’ signature two-plane battle system and allows players to unlock Art of Fighting’s Ryo Sakazaki through specific in-game conditions. The release represents one of SNK’s key entries from the height of the 16-bit fighting game boom.
Nintendo continues to add retro titles to its subscription catalog, which now includes hundreds of games from the NES, Super NES, and other legacy platforms. These periodic updates help preserve the company’s classic library while offering modern players access to games that defined earlier generations of console gaming.
