Nintendo of America has announced a new Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated exclusively to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, scheduled to air on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at 6:00 AM PT. The announcement was shared via Nintendo’s official social media channels and makes clear that the broadcast will focus solely on the upcoming film rather than any video game announcements.

In its statement, Nintendo of America said, “Join us on Sunday, Jan 25, at 6am PT for the #NintendoDirect featuring an exclusive look at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” The company also added a clarification to set expectations ahead of the presentation, stating, “Please note that no game information will be included in this presentation.” The Direct will be streamed through Nintendo’s official channels, with a viewing link provided alongside the announcement.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is a high-budget animated feature produced by Nintendo in collaboration with Illumination. It is scheduled to release theatrically in the United States on April 3, 2026, followed by a Japanese release on April 24, 2026. The film serves as a direct sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which debuted in 2023 and achieved significant commercial success.

This sequel expands the scope of the Mario film universe by shifting the narrative to a cosmic setting inspired by the Super Mario Galaxy games. The story is expected to introduce new locations and characters while continuing the adventures of Mario and his allies beyond the Mushroom Kingdom. The returning main cast is led once again by Chris Pratt, with additional high-profile casting confirmed for the sequel.

Among the new additions, Brie Larson has been cast as Rosalina, a character closely associated with the Galaxy setting, while Benny Safdie will voice Bowser Jr. These casting choices mark a notable expansion of the film’s character roster and signal a broader focus on the wider Mario universe. Nintendo has not yet outlined the full cast list, leaving room for additional reveals.

The upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct is expected to provide an extended look at the film, including what is likely the final theatrical trailer. While Nintendo has not detailed the contents of the presentation, it has fueled speculation that further cast announcements may be included. The long-rumored appearance of Yoshi, for example, has yet to be officially confirmed, though the character’s absence from previous marketing has remained a point of discussion.
