Nintendo Appears to Alter Summer Swimsuit Artwork for Dispatch on eShop

by Ali Haider

Nintendo appears to have censored or altered a specific piece of promotional artwork for Dispatch ahead of the game’s confirmed release on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The discrepancy has surfaced following the opening of pre-orders on the eShop, where two different versions of the same summer-themed artwork are currently being used across separate product listings.

Dispatch is scheduled to arrive on both Nintendo platforms in January, with pre-orders now live for the base game as well as multiple digital add-ons. Among these is the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes access to a digital artbook and a set of digital comics. According to the available listings, Nintendo is displaying different versions of the same artwork depending on where the content is viewed.

The artwork in question features the main cast of Dispatch wearing swimsuits and relaxing poolside. One version of the image, which remains visible on the Australian eShop page for the Digital Deluxe Edition, shows the characters in their original swimsuit attire without any apparent alterations. This version presents the cast enjoying time in the sun and aligns with what appears to be the uncensored artwork.

However, a second version of the same artwork is also being used on Nintendo’s website. In this variation, some characters appear to have their clothing altered, resulting in a more covered and family-friendly presentation. This modified artwork is specifically associated with the DLC listing titled Dispatch Art and Comics Pack. The exact reason for the change has not been disclosed, and no official explanation has been provided by Nintendo or the publisher at this time.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Dispatch includes the full game, The Art of Dispatch digital artbook featuring more than 100 pages, and four digital comics totaling over 45 pages. These comics include Issue#1 – Splash and The Last Bender, Issue#2 – Pas De Deux and Shellshock, Issue#3 – Get Up, and Issue#4 – The Death of Mecha Man. The same artbook and comics are also listed separately as part of the Dispatch Art and Comics Pack, which is where the altered artwork appears to be applied. All listed digital content is noted as being available only with English text.

Dispatch itself is described as an episodic superhero workplace comedy developed by AdHoc Studio, a team made up of former Telltale Games developers. Players assume the role of Robert Robertson, formerly known as Mecha Man, who is forced into a desk job managing the Superhero Dispatch Network after losing his suit. Gameplay combines narrative-driven decision-making with management mechanics, requiring players to assign a group of reformed villains to emergencies while managing workplace dynamics.

The full season concluded on November 12, 2025, following a weekly episodic release, and is currently available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are confirmed to launch on January 28, 2026.
