Nintendo Celebrates MAR10 Day With Events and Deals

by Greg Martin

Nintendo has revealed its plans for MAR10 Day celebrations this year, marking the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise while also promoting the upcoming animated film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The annual event on March 10 will include several weeks of activities, promotions, and in-game events designed to engage fans across multiple platforms.

One of the major highlights is a series of in-game events for Mario Kart World that will run throughout the month. Nintendo Switch Online members can participate in a weekly lineup of online races as part of the Mario Kart World My Nintendo Open Series. Players in the Americas who take part in the three scheduled events will earn 310 My Nintendo Platinum Points simply by participating.

Nintendo is also giving fans the chance to revisit several classic Mario titles through its Nintendo Switch Online service. Members with a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 system can access a selection of Super Mario games originally released on platforms such as the Super NES, Game Boy, and NES. Beginning March 10, players subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online plus Expansion Pack will also be able to play additional titles, including the Game Boy Advance release Mario vs. Donkey Kong, as well as the Virtual Boy games Mario Clash and Mario’s Tennis.

Several game discounts will also be available during the celebration period. Between March 8 and March 14, select retailers, including Nintendo’s official U.S. stores, will offer deals on physical Nintendo Switch titles while supplies last. Among the discounted games are Super Mario 3D World plus Bowser’s Fury and Super Mario Odyssey, each available for $39.99. Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV will also be discounted to $59.99, marking the first Nintendo Switch 2 title from Nintendo to receive a price reduction. Additional deals will be available through the My Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop until March 15, including discounts on Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Super Mario Maker 2.

Nintendo is also tying the celebration to the upcoming animated film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 1. The film will feature characters such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Princess Rosalina. Fans interested in the character can revisit her origins through Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Nintendo Switch, with an additional free update available for those playing on Nintendo Switch 2.

Outside of the games themselves, Nintendo is offering a variety of promotions and fan activities. Through May 31, players can enter a My Nintendo sweepstakes for a chance to win a theme park vacation for four to experience SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at either Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles or Universal Orlando Resort in Florida.

In addition, Nintendo has partnered with Lunchables for a limited-time promotion. Select Lunchables packs will feature QR codes that offer fans the chance to win a Nintendo Switch 2 system and a digital game download. The promotion runs in stores and through online retailers until May 31 and will include branding from games such as Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Pokémon Legends Z A.

Fans attending Nintendo retail locations can also participate in in-person celebrations. Special MAR10 Day events will take place at the Nintendo New York and Nintendo San Francisco stores, including meet and greet opportunities with Mario. Retail demos of Nintendo titles will also be available at select Walmart locations starting March 8.

Nintendo is also encouraging fans to stay updated through the Nintendo Today smart device application, which provides daily news and updates tailored to player interests. The free app allows users with a Nintendo Account to receive updates related to Mario titles and customize their device home screen with themed widgets and wallpapers.
