Nintendo has officially confirmed that its next Nintendo Direct will take place on September 12 at 6 a.m. PT. The presentation, which is expected to last around 60 minutes, will focus on upcoming titles for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. With the event now confirmed, attention has quickly turned toward the growing list of rumors surrounding what could be one of Nintendo’s most significant showcases in recent years.

Among the most notable developments leading into the Direct is the recent Brazilian rating for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The game was classified with a 14+ rating due to violent content, a move that often precedes release date announcements. This has fueled speculation that Nintendo will finally confirm a launch window during the event.

In addition, multiple insiders have hinted at a new Pokémon spin-off project being revealed, separate from the upcoming Pokémon Legends ZA. Content creator SwitchForce added intrigue by teasing a “777 jackpot,” suggesting that three titles linked to the number seven may be unveiled. Potential candidates include Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Dragon Quest VII, and possibly a Mario project tied to the mascot’s 40th anniversary.

Speculation has also centered on third-party involvement, with whispers of Capcom preparing to announce a major horror title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Rumors point heavily toward Resident Evil 7, which would be a major addition to the console’s library if confirmed. Other reports suggest ports of blockbuster games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 could be on the way.

Additional rumors include a fresh Fire Emblem entry or remake, a potential new Animal Crossing installment, and updates to existing titles like Splatoon Raiders. Another project generating attention is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, which may finally receive a firm release date.

With the Direct falling just one day before Mario’s 40th anniversary, expectations are running high that Nintendo will celebrate its iconic mascot while setting the stage for the next era of its hardware.
