Report: Nintendo Direct Scheduled For July 2025, After Donkey Kong Bananza Launch

by Muhammad Ali Bari

The next Nintendo Direct presentation is allegedly scheduled to happen this month in July, 2025, after the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza.

According to reliable industry insider and content creator Nate the Hate, Nintendo is planning to host a new Direct presentation in late July, 2025, sometime after the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17. While the exact date and format remain unconfirmed, he is confident that the presentation will fall within the final stretch of the month, possibly the week of July 28 to align with the company’s earnings report on August 1.

The upcoming Direct is expected to be a major event, particularly because many third-party publishers have so far remained quiet on their upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 releases. Nate noted that in conversations with developers and publishers, several have chosen not to announce their games as of yet. He mentioned that these publishers are looking to time their announcements closer to release dates in order to maintain excitement and avoid early hype burnout. According to him, the announcements are just a matter of when and where.

The insider said that the first-party roadmap for the Switch 2 is already know, and the bigger question is regarding third-party support. He mentioned names of publishers that need to show up with games at the next Direct presentation, including Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix. In relation to Capcom, he also speculated that the Direct could announce a native Switch 2 port of Resident Evil 2 Remake, a game that was previously released on Switch via cloud streaming. He believes that these re-releases could serve to not only fill gaps in the release calendar but also showcasing the Switch 2’s technical leap over the original.

Nate also mentioned Rockstar Games as a potential surprise participant, pointing to Red Dead Redemption 2 as a candidate for a Switch 2 release. Although Rockstar usually operates independently of industry events like the Nintendo Direct, such an announcement may still be possible.
