Known industry insider Nate the Hate has reaffirmed his previous claim that a new Nintendo Direct presentation is set to take place before the end of July 2025. Following earlier reports, Nate has now doubled down on this statement, signaling that Nintendo fans may indeed have a major announcement event on the horizon.
Nate originally hinted at the upcoming Direct earlier this month, suggesting it would occur sometime after the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17. According to his latest update, the planned presentation is still on track, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed. In a recent interaction on X/Twitter, Nate responded to a follower who asked whether the Direct is still happening in July, simply stating, “To my knowledge.” While far from a definitive confirmation, his comment suggests that the insider remains confident in his earlier claim.
The anticipated Nintendo Direct has generated significant interest, especially given that many third-party publishers have remained relatively quiet regarding their support for the Nintendo Switch 2. In his previous video, Nate noted that several publishers and developers have intentionally held back on announcing new titles, opting instead to align their reveals closer to official release dates. This strategy, aimed at maintaining player excitement and avoiding early marketing fatigue, means the upcoming Direct could serve as a key platform for several long-anticipated game announcements.
Nate further commented that while the first-party lineup for the Switch 2 is largely known, the major unknown remains third-party involvement. He specifically named Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix as publishers expected to appear in the presentation. Among the possibilities, he speculated on a potential native Nintendo Switch 2 version of Resident Evil 2 Remake. The game previously appeared on the original Switch through cloud streaming, but a full port could highlight the upgraded technical capabilities of the Switch 2 hardware.
In a further note of speculation, Nate suggested that Rockstar Games might surprise fans with a Switch 2 release of Red Dead Redemption 2. While Rockstar has typically avoided participation in major industry events like Nintendo Direct, Nate did not rule out the possibility of the developer making an appearance.
With Nintendo’s quarterly earnings report scheduled for August 1, speculation remains that the company could time the Direct for the final week of July. While nothing has been officially announced by Nintendo, Nate’s continued insistence on the timing has kept expectations high among fans eagerly awaiting news on upcoming releases and third-party collaborations.
