Past Nintendo and FromSoftware collaborations suggest that the upcoming action role-playing game, The Duskbloods, will remain a permanent Switch 2 exclusive.
A look back at FromSoftware’s track record of releasing games developed for Nintendo (via ng_d_th on Reddit) suggests that studio’s next title, The Duskbloods, will never been ported to other platforms, and will, therefore, remain a permanent Switch 2 exclusive. While the developer does own the IP, Nintendo is known to keep third-party titles it has funded tied to its platforms. Other examples are Sega and PlatinumGames’ Bayonetta 2 and, more recently, Bayonetta 3.

While this is certainly not a confirmation that The Duskbloods will never see the light of day on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and/or Steam, all signs indicate that this collaboration between FromSoftware and Nintendo runs fairly deep. During a recent interview with Nintendo as part of its Creator’s Voice feature, director Hidetaka Miyazaki mentioned that his team held a meeting with Nintendo some time ago, during which they pitched a bare-bones idea for The Duskbloods to the console maker. Nintendo seemed keen on helping in making it a reality, and that’s when the project went into production.
At first, the game was being worked on by a small team for the original Nintendo Switch. However, just as it started to take shape, the console maker approached FromSoftware with talk of the Nintendo Switch 2, which led the team to revamp its development path with the new hardware in mind. The Switch 2 hardware’s focus on online features allowed the studio to stay as true to the original vision as possible, which was very good news for the team.
