Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase, broadcast in August 2025, offered a broad look at upcoming titles headed to both the Nintendo Switch and its successor, the Nintendo Switch 2. The presentation highlighted a range of unique experiences, from inventive puzzle games and surreal horror sims to fast-paced action adventures and lighthearted party titles.
Several of the featured games will launch across both platforms, while others are timed exclusives or feature day-one demos. This showcase continues Nintendo’s commitment to spotlighting independent studios, offering a diverse slate of genres and artistic styles that appeal to a broad player base.
Key Highlights from the August 2025 Indie World Showcase
Mina the Hollower – Developed by Yacht Club Games, this retro-inspired action-adventure game features fast-paced combat, gothic environments, and a rich narrative. A free demo is now available on the Nintendo eShop, with the full game launching October 31 for both Switch and Switch 2.
Little Kitty, Big City – The Picture Purrfect Update – This free content expansion includes new neighborhoods, character customization, additional photo mode features, and even a dog impression mini-game. The update will be available later this year.
Is This Seat Taken? – From Poti Poti Studio, this cozy puzzle game about arranging seating in various social settings launched as a timed console exclusive on Nintendo Switch immediately following the presentation.
Herdling – Okomotive, known for the FAR series, teams up with Panic for this emotional alpine journey featuring mystical creatures known as Calicorns. The game launches August 21 on Nintendo Switch, with pre-orders now open.
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon – A chaotic bike-racing party game and spiritual successor to Ultimate Chicken Horse, this title features returning barnyard animals and local or online multiplayer for up to eight players. Launching this winter for Switch and Switch 2.
BALL x PIT – A survival roguelite combining brick-breaking mechanics with base-building and randomized upgrades. Coming to Nintendo Switch on October 15, with a Switch 2 release planned for later in the fall.
Content Warning – A multiplayer horror game where players film spooky encounters for fame. Developed by Landfall, it is scheduled to arrive in 2026 on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Well Dweller – A dark fairy tale adventure featuring Glimmer, a small bird wielding a matchstick, this atmospheric title launches in 2026 for Nintendo Switch.
Glaciered – A visually striking action title set in a glacial future where players control an aquatic descendant of dinosaurs. It arrives this winter as a timed console exclusive on Switch 2.
Neverway – A surreal blend of life simulation and RPG elements, Neverway follows Fiona as she becomes an immortal herald on a haunted farm. Set for release in 2026 on Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo also revealed a rapid-fire montage of smaller but notable indie titles:
- UFO 50 – A massive collection of 50 games across genres; out today as a timed exclusive.
- Tiny Bookshop – A management game centered on operating a mobile second-hand bookstore; launches today.
- Strange Antiquities – A sequel to Strange Horticulture, this occult shop simulator arrives September 17.
- OPUS: Prism Peak – A narrative-driven photo adventure game launching this fall as a timed exclusive.
- Go-Go-Town! – A small-town simulation and mayoral management game, releasing in spring 2026.
- Caves of Qud – A richly simulated roguelike; launching this winter as a system exclusive.
- Undusted: Letters from the Past – A narrative-focused cleaning game available this October.
- Winter Burrow – A cozy survival game starring a mouse preparing for winter, set for a holiday release.
