Nintendo has acknowledged reports of crashes affecting Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness on Switch 2, confirming that it is currently investigating the issue.

In a statement shared via its support account, the company said, “We have received inquiries regarding an error that causes the game to crash while playing Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness from the Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics collection.” Nintendo added, “We are currently investigating the issue to find a solution. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information, so please bear with us for a little while longer.”

The company also issued a warning regarding potential data loss tied to the crashes. “Please note that if the game closes unexpectedly while you are playing, your save data will not be saved. Therefore, please use the ‘Save Anywhere’ feature found in the ‘Pause Menu’ within the game,” the statement reads. Nintendo concluded by apologizing, stating, “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness was released on Switch 2 on March 18, 2026, as part of the GameCube Nintendo Classics library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Originally launched in 2005, the title has returned with improved performance and visual clarity, though with missing features such as Pokémon HOME connectivity.

The re-release is part of Nintendo’s broader 30th anniversary celebrations for the franchise, bringing the Orre region and its darker, story-driven approach back to modern hardware.
