Nintendo has brand new announcements in store for this Winter, including something related to the Donkey Kong franchise, based on the latest rumor.
Nintendo insider SamusHunter2, who had previously leaked the existence of the Switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X, took to Twitter/X to share that the console maker has new announcements planned for Winter, including something Donkey Kong related.
The insider shared two images as hints. One image is from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and it shows link playing the ocarina. The other one is from Donkey Kong. According to them, the image from Ocarina of Time is not a hint for a The Legend of Zelda game. Instead, it is like a riddle for the title in question, and the insider encouraged their Twitter/X followers to focus on the all elements on the screen.
Regarding the Donkey Kong image, the insider said that the related announcement is not for a game. It’s possible that Nintendo has a TV series or movie based on Donkey Kong planned for release. Only time will tell whether this is the case, however.

Speaking of Nintendo related announcements, the console maker remains fully committed to announcing the successor to its current-gen Switch console by the end of the existing fiscal year. During an online press conference after the publication of the company’s latest earnings results, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa stated that it intends to announce the Switch 2 before the end of its current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2025. As for the original Switch, Furukawa said that for a platform that is in its 8th year in the market, both hardware and software enjoy stable demand and brisk sales. However, he added that recent sales did fall short of the company’s original projections.
