Nintendo Online Maintenance Fuels Rumors of a July 30 Nintendo Direct Presentation

by Salal Awan

Speculation surrounding a Nintendo Direct presentation at the end of July 2025 is growing more intense, and the latest indication may be coming directly from Nintendo itself. According to the company’s official network maintenance schedule, a brief window of online service downtime is planned for the same timeframe insiders have long predicted for the next Direct event.

The listed maintenance is set to begin on Wednesday, July 30, at 11:00 PM Pacific Time and run through Thursday, July 31, at 12:30 AM Pacific Time. During this period, affected services include stage data and other network functionality for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems. While such updates are routine, the timing has not gone unnoticed by fans and observers, many of whom see this as a subtle confirmation that a broadcast may be on the way.

Adding to the speculation is long-time insider NateTheHate, who has consistently maintained that a Direct is scheduled for the final week of July. In recent remarks, he reiterated his stance, stating that he has not received any information that would contradict this expectation. His confidence remains unchanged, even as Nintendo has yet to officially announce the event.

Meanwhile, previous leaks and rating board activity continue to hint at what might be shown if the presentation does take place. Among the expected highlights is the long-rumored reveal of Persona 3 Reload for Nintendo platforms. A leaker with a credible record in the Atlus and Sega space has suggested that “many obvious ports” are on their way, encouraging fans to “keep reloading the news feed,” a subtle nod to the title’s potential inclusion.

Another title that may appear is Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, which recently surfaced through what appeared to be an early preorder listing. While the listing was swiftly taken down, community sources, including a known PvZ enthusiast named Jay, confirmed its legitimacy and even referenced leaked cover art. If the information from Dealabs proves correct, the game will launch on October 23 for a price of €19.99 and is likely to be featured during the broadcast.

Also anticipated is SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide, recently rated by the German USK board and set to launch on November 18, 2025. Developed by THQ Nordic, the title is confirmed for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. Pricing and physical editions have also been confirmed, further pointing to a near-term marketing push that could coincide with a Nintendo Direct.

Two other major titles recently rated overseas include Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in South Korea and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment in Brazil. Though neither has an official release date, the appearance of these ratings hints that additional details, potentially including launch timing, might be revealed during the upcoming presentation.

Should the Nintendo Direct be confirmed for July 30, an announcement could arrive as early as Tuesday, July 29, aligning with the company’s common practice of offering just a day’s notice. While nothing is confirmed as of yet, the convergence of internal scheduling, insider reports, and external leaks is painting a consistent picture.

Until then, fans may wish to keep expectations measured, but with one eye on Nintendo’s official communication channels. If confirmed, the Direct could serve as a substantial showcase for both the Nintendo Switch 2 and several major upcoming titles.
