Marvelous Games has posted an FAQ regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma on its official website, in which it has addressed the features fans can expect to see in the new version of the game. Additionally, the developer has shared details on the upgrade path from Switch to Switch 2, including pricing and compatibility of the physical edition across both platforms.

As per the FAQ, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of titles that were originally released for the Switch come in a red 64GB game card that includes, in full, the Nintendo Switch game and the Upgrade Pack. It is mentioned that users will not be required to download the full game. They can simply insert the card into either a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 console, and the correct version will launch automatically. Like most modern titles, there may be small updates or patches available at launch to provide minor fixes and improvements, but the FAQ stressed that the complete game will be available on the game card, ready to play from day one.

The above information suggests that Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game cards for titles also available on the original Switch will work across both consoles, as both the original game data and the upgrade pack will be stored on it.

Furthermore, the FAQ states that the upgrade pack ensures player save data carries over between versions. As mentioned earlier, it’s included on Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game cards, though those who own the original Switch version can purchase it separately from the Nintendo eShop for the price of 10 US Dollars / 10 Euros / 10 GBP / 15 Australian Dollars.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will support higher resolution visuals, higher frame rates, and the ability to use Joy-Con 2 controllers with mouse functionality.
